A Countywide Burn Ban is in effect from July 1 (or earlier if necessary) and remains in effect until the end of the declared fire season, approximately October 31.
Burn Permit Information
During the winter season, burning is allowed in Mendocino County only on permissive burn days with a valid burn permit.
• An Air Quality Management (AQM) permit is required year round and may be obtained at 306 E. Gobbi Street in Ukiah. RCFPD is authorized to issue these permits for AQM during the winter burn season, usually November 1 through April 30. You may pick up your permit at 19601 S Highway One in Manchester on Fridays between 9:00am and 1:00pm.
• A CalFire Burn Permit is required for the ‘summer burn season’ beginning around May 1st and ending approximately June 30. The CalFire permit will suffice as an AQM permit. RCFPD does not issue permits for the summer burn season.
